Engineering Complex.

Scope :

Construction of $90m Engineering and Interdisciplinary Sciences Complex.

The five-storey complex will cover an area of 85,000 square feet, serving as a hotspot for collaborations between engineers and biologists, climatologists and entrepreneurs.

The facility will incorporate the university's California Mission Revival legacy style. It will blend seamlessly with campus architecture although it will have durable, cost-effective painted cement instead of large adobe blocks, white exteriors, regularly spaced small windows, tile roofs as well as modest decorative elements.

The interior of the facility will feature more instructional, laboratory and collaborative space compared to the existing Engineering and Industrial Technology buildings.

This includes 11,500 square feet of instructional space with 17 labs equipped with modern scientific and industrial machines and a modular setup.

The outside will feature the Thomas B. Day Quad, with gardens and seating.

In addition, the property will also accommodate the William E. Leonhard Entrepreneurship Center, an umbrella for the Zahn Innovation Center and Lavin Entrepreneurship Center.

The project, expected to be completed by 2018, is being financed through private funds, state funds and university reserves.

Project completion date : 2018-12-31 12:00:00
