Encyclopedia of Marine Natural Products, 2nd Edition; 3 volume set

Jean-Michel Kornprobst. Translated by T.B. Tam Ha

1854 pages

The first edition was published in French in 2006, and an English edition was published in 2009. This second edition has been completely revised and expanded. Aimed at students and young as well as seasoned researchers, this three-volume reference presents the chemical structures of primary and secondary metabolites in relation to their chemotaxonomy and their chemical ecology, and covers the principal properties and applications of these metabolites (pharmacological research, food, biotechnology). The three volumes are titled as follows: General Aspects, Microorganisms, Algae, and Fungi (v.1); Porifera, Cridaria, and Ctenophora (v.2); and Protostomes and Deuterostomes (v.3). Some 9,000 compounds are presented in 25 chapters; each phylum is introduced, and chapters conclude with a bibliography, a list of internet websites, and a bibliography on synthesis.
