Empty box in ballot papers challenged in LHC.

LAHORE -- Insertion of empty box in ballot paper by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has been challenged in Lahore High Court (LHC).

The petitioner took the plea in his petition that insertion of empty box in ballot papers by ECP is illegal and unconstitutional move saying it will land the society in chaos and strife.

It was further said in the petition that ECP was only authorized to print the name of candidates. ECP overstepped its powers by inserting empty box, petition further said.

It may be recalled that a press release issued earlier by ECP said that an empty box will be added in ballot paper and the voters will be entitled to reject all the candidates by stamping this box.
