Employee of gold mining company fired for establishing trade union in Kyrgyzstan.

Employee of LLC "Altynken" (field Taldybulak Levoberezhny) Turatkan Arykbaev was illegally dismissed on June 27 due to active participation in social activities, said the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Mining and Metallurgical Union of Kyrgyzstan Eldar Tadjibaev. Workers of the enterprise created a trade union in order to protect their labor rights on June 14, whose chairman was a unanimously elected Arykbaev. "Immediately after the administration learned of the creation of union, the union activists were suppressed and faced psychological pressure and demand to exit from the union. President of the union committee was asked to write a letter of resignation, but when he refused to resign he was fired for not succeeding in trial period. Moreover, the administration made some serious violations of procedure and termination of employment contract," said the statement.Prosecutor General, Ministry of Natural Resources of Kyrgyzstan, and the State Labor Inspectorate of the KR are engaged in solving this social conflict at the enterprise now, said Tadjibaev. Mining and Metallurgical Trade Union of Kyrgyzstan is preparing an order to cancel the order and the reappointment of Arykbaev to previously held position as well as an appeal to the foreign investors to remove the head from office for violating the constitutional rights of citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
