Emir returns home after attending Islamic summit.

HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani returned to Doha yesterday evening from Saudi Arabia, after taking part in the fourth extraordinary Islamic summit in Makkah al-Mukkuramah.

HH the Emir was accompanied to the summit by a high-level official delegation, including HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani and HE the Chairman of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority, Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah. .

HH the Emir and the accompanying delegation were seen off upon departure from King Abdulaziz International Airport by Saudi National Security Council secretary-general Prince Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz and Qatar's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ali bin Abdullah al-Mahmoud.

The Emir sent two cables to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud and Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defence Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation for the warm reception and generous hospitality accorded to him and his accompanying delegation during the visit.

Earlier, HH the Emir attended the Suhour banquet hosted by King Abdullah at Al-Safa Palace in honour of the heads of the Islamic countries' delegations attending the summit. HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim and members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Emir also attended the banquet.

In Makkah, the Emir met with Tunisian President Mohamed al-Mouncef al-Marzouki, Maldives President Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik, Guinea President Alpha Conde and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari.

The separate meetings discussed bilateral relations as well as the summit's agenda.
