Email: On the fringe: Another Vine jest.

Byline: Edited by Steve Hendry

HEARD the one about the BBC political reporter who used to write jokes for his stand-up brother?

Sketch Show star Tim Vine has revealed his big bruv Jeremy - the former Newsnight host turned Radio Two DJ - used to write gags for him.

Tim, who made it into the Guinness Book of Records last year for telling the most jokes (499) in an hour, said: ``When he was doing the very serious, straight news stuff I always found that quite funny anyway because he's not exactly like that. He's got a real sense of humour.

``We're not obviously brothers but I think that's because what I do is so frivolous.

``He's gone all light entertainment so I'm thinking I might start reading the news. That might be quite amusing.
