Email: Libertines' Pete arrested for carrying a knife.

Byline: Edited Billy Sloan

LIBERTINES frontman Pete Doherty has been arrested for possessing a flick knife.

The blade was found when the troubled star who has admitted addictions to crack cocaine and heroin was stopped by police for speeding in London on Thursday.

The 24-year-old had only just returned to Britain after fleeing tough drugs clinic the Thamkrabok Monastery in Thailand. Doherty flew out to the rehab centre earlier this month but he quit last Sunday after just three days.

His trip was the reason The Libertines cancelled a string of gigs, including next week's Glastonbury festival.

A police source said: 'Doherty will appear before magistrates later this month charged with possessing an offensive weapon, driving without a licence, without insurance and driving dangerously.'

It's not the first time Doherty has been in troubled with the law. He was jailed in September 2003 for burgling bandmate Carl Barat's flat. He was freed last October.
