Elon Ganor Named CEO of VocalTec; Company Chairman And Industry Visionary Assumes Leadership.

HERZLIYA, ISRAEL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 8, 1999--

VocalTec Communications, Ltd. (Nasdaq: VOCL), the IP (Internet protocol) communications company, today named Elon Ganor its chief executive officer (CEO). Ganor, current chairman, previously has held the CEO post, during which time he oversaw the company's rapid rise in the Voice over IP industry (VoIP) it helped to create. He will immediately assume the responsibilities of Doron Zinger, outgoing president and CEO, who has resigned to pursue other opportunities.

"I am very optimistic about the outstanding opportunities for VocalTec going forward," said Elon Ganor, chairman and CEO of VocalTec. "Our longtime leadership in this fast-moving industry can be attributed to our ability to accurately predict market changes in global voice communications. Now, we intend to sharpen our focus as VoIP moves from experimentation to 'mainstream adoption' of essential services. I am excited about recent market developments and am eager to once again lead this company to its future."

Ganor has been a member of VocalTec's top management since the company's inception in 1989. He is widely considered the primary visionary of Internet telephony and one of the foremost leaders of its continued growth. Under his guidance, VocalTec launched the industry with the introduction of Internet Phone(R) software for PCs in 1995. During Ganor's previous term as CEO, the company earned a reputation as a market innovator. Among the many achievements of this period was the unveiling of the first IP telephony gateway, as well as the VocalTec Ensemble Architecture(TM) -- the first end-to-end solution encompassing desktop software, gateway, gatekeeper and network management servers.

Ganor has been cited by leading trade publications internationally as one of the most influential people in the networking business. He has been a featured speaker at foremost technology trade and business shows including The World Economic Summit in Switzerland in 1999. Ganor and VocalTec have been profiled on major American television networks and covered in Business Week, Reuters, The Wall Street Journal and Fortune. Prior to joining VocalTec in 1990, Ganor had nearly a decade of international business experience and several years as a practicing physician. He holds a medical degree from Tel Aviv Medical School.
