Ellisland appeal's antiques roadshow fundraiser.

Fundraising for the campaign to turn Ellisland - the home of Robert Burns - into a major tourist attraction will get a boost on Tuesday.

to the its Dumfries antiques expert Sybelle Thomson is hosting a mini antiques roadshow and sale at the farm near Auldgirth which was gifted to the nation "for the contemplation of the life and works" of the Bard.

The house, farm buildings, land and a collection of 150 items which belonged to the poet - hailed as "one of the world's most important collections of Burns treasures" - are managed by the Ellisland Trust.

go along to Ellisland with their own treasures get them valued for a small fee.

The proceeds from the viewing will go to Friends of Ellisland for the museum and activities.

Event organiser Maureen Milton said: "We are so delighted that Sybelle and Thomson Roddick are supporting us this year and we hope to see lots of items at Ellisland next Tuesday."

There will also be a collectables table top sale on the day with tea and coffee served.

are hoping for a good turn out for the valuation event and Sybelle is looking forward to seeing lots of weird and wonderful items and also sharing their stories.

"We have been donated all kinds of items for the table top sale and thank everyone for their generosity. No Ellisland items are going on sale as they are owned by the nation."

The trust is currently working with a team of advisers to develop the site, open more of it to the public and unlock its potential as a major visitor attraction for the region.
