Elephant beauty contest.
Around 90 elephants have taken part in the annual Chitwan elephant beauty contest in Nepal.
A shortlist of three pachyderms was selected from five to compete in the final round of the competition, which gives marks for discipline, experience, and obedience to their handlers.
It was then down to the five expert judges to determine which of the three competitors, adorned with the finest decoration, as well as being deemed to having the best temperament and personality.
Shri Ram said that in the end, Chitwan Kali, an elephant from the Chitwan National Park, had been the judged to be the winner of this year's competition.
"Chitwan Kali came out first as it was judged that the decoration on the elephant was very beautiful and that the elephant was able to obey the command of mahout (handler) very honestly. The cleanliness of the elephant was also top."
The runner-up prize was presented to elephant Prakriti Kali.
This is the ninth time Chitwan Elephant festival has been held in Nepal and the third time the elephant beauty contest has been part of the festivities
