Eleksen Garners Industry Accolades for Innovation.
WALTHAM, Mass. -- Eleksen Group plc (AIM:ELG.L), the inventor and manufacturer of ElekTex[R] smart fabric touchpads for consumer electronics, today announced it has been chosen by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA [R]) as an International CES Innovations 2007 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree for its iPod controller.
Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a pre-eminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the trade press to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics. Eleksen's products will be highlighted at the 2007 International CES, which runs January 8-11, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada, at Innovations Plus at the Sands, which showcases the hottest technologies in the consumer electronics industry.
This and other accolades have been won by Eleksen as a result of the company's product innovation and unique capabilities and the new business opportunities in interactive apparel and soft-goods accessories for both consumer and industrial products that they offer. Eleksen is turning its designs into viable commercial products such as wearable electronics and wireless fabric keyboards.
Eleksen's standard iPod controllers which have secured this award were developed to simplify the integration of interactive controls for iPod into apparel and soft-goods and make it easy for manufacturers to exploit the lucrative market for iPod accessories and wearable electronics.
Similarly, Electronics Weekly recently named Eleksen as a finalist for the Design Application of the Year category for its Elektra 06 European Electronics Industry Awards. Eleksen was shortlisted for its range of ElekTex 'ready-to-integrate' smart fabric controls, which can be sewn into clothing and fashion accessories as easily as a zipper and used to control portable consumer electronic devices such as iPods and mobile phones.
"It is clear Eleksen is being recognized for innovation in design and our technology's ability to completely transform the consumer electronics industry," said John Collins, VP of Business Development at Eleksen. "It is an honor to be chosen by two leading institutions, the Consumer Electronics Association and the European Electronics Industry, for these awards."
About CES Innovations Awards
As a widely renowned consumer technology awards program that began in 1989, the CES Innovations Awards recognize the best designed and engineered products. It is sponsored by CEA, the producer of the International CES, the world's largest consumer technology tradeshow, and endorsed by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), the voice of industrial design, committed to advancing the profession through education, information, community and advocacy.
Eleksen Group plc is the world leader in touch sensitive interactive textiles for electronics interface design. The company's core technology, ElekTex, is a unique electro-conductive fabric touch pad optimized for the creation of flexible, durable and rugged fabric touch screen interfaces. ElekTex is used in applications ranging from wearable electronic controls for consumer electronics and industrial wear to lightweight, low-power touch interfaces for CE accessories, telematics, military, transportation and space suits. It replaces the hard touch pads, flexi-circuits and polymer switches which have limited the growth of the wearable electronics markets. Eleksen licenses ElekTex and reference design to manufacturers for use in custom electronics design and also markets a range of ready-to-integrate solutions for garment, bags and accessories manufacturers. Eleksen is headquartered in Pinewood Studios near London, England and in Waltham, Massachusetts near Boston.
