Electronic Arts hires Peter Loeb to head online game business.
Loeb, 37, joins Electronic Arts (EA) from SegaSoft of Redwood City where he was vice president and general manager of Entertainment Networks. He was responsible for SegaSoft's online multiplayer game network business, as well as overseeing all marketing and product development activities for packaged and online content. Prior to his general manager assignment, he held the position of director of marketing, assisting in the formation of SegaSoft to create interactive entertainment products for the PC and Internet.
"Peter brings years of gaming and online experience to our team," said Don Mattrick, senior vice president of EA's North American studios. "Peter will assist us in defining and directing our strategy in the evolving online gaming market."
Loeb said, "Electronic Arts is the world's leading interactive entertainment software publisher, and I'm excited about building a premier online gaming business here. It is clear that EA is one of the few software publishers that understands how to create compelling, top-selling games. EA's first multiplayer Internet games clearly show the excellence and leadership it will bring to the category and provides a unique basis for defining the future of online games."
Prior to joining SegaSoft, Loeb held numerous executive and marketing management positions at Sega of America in direct marketing, new business development and product management. Loeb holds a B.A. from Brown University and an M.B.A. from Harvard University's Graduate School of Business Administration.
