Electro-pop star sets the Goulding standard; Ellie attracting attention of remix artists everywhere.
Electro-pop singer Ellie Goulding has a highpitched voice that is instantly recognisable when you hear it.
The 26-year-old, whose debut album Lights reached the number six spot in the Irish charts in 2010, managed to break the mould and impress music critics with her second album Halcyon last October.
Ellie, who cites an eclectic mix of singers including Bjork, Joni Mitchell and Lauryn Hill as influences, is quickly becoming one of the most remixed artists of our generation with producers and DJs taking her tracks, unravelling them and putting them back together in new and intriguing ways.
Halcyon's lead single Anything Could Happen received plenty of airplay when it was first released here late last year, gaining Ellie even more fans in the process.
Talking to music website Vice.com recently, she said she is looking forward to her new Halcyon Days Tour, which will also see the singer playing the Olympia on Saturday.
And Ellie added fans have a lot to look forward to as this tour is going to be a lot more "live" than her last one.
She said: "There's hardly anything on track anymore. Not that there really was before, but everything is, like, live now.
"Everything is live and everything is the right kind of sound but it's also something visual.
"I wanted there to be a proper band as well for the performances. The smallest things amuse me, like the fact that there will be this trigger where the string reverberates and you can make that really cool dubby "womp womp" sound.
"I can't really describe it but it's a really cool sound. And I'm doing a bit more with my voice and stuff.
"I'm adding Hanging On, which I've never done before. It's just going to be way more happening. It's a bit more of a show than before."
The bad news, folks, is that there are no tickets left for Ellie's upcoming gig at Dublin's Olympia on Sunday ... but rest assured she will most likely be back during the summer for some festivals, where it has to be said she shines brightest.
