PENSIONERS are being reminded it's not too late to book up for free safety tests for electric blankets.

Testing will be by appointment only, call (01670) 534 585. Arrangements can be made to collect blankets for anyone who is housebound.

Coun Mick Scullion, of Northumberland County Council, said: "I'd urge anyone with an older blanket to have it checked."

The testing days are planned at:

Monday, October 8, Morpeth Fire Station (all day)

Tuesday, October 9, Blyth Fire Station (all day)

Wednesday, October 10, Ashington Fire Station (all day)

Thursday, October 11, Cramlington Fire Station (all day).
