Elected members of union councils stage protest.

HARIPUR -- Elected members of different union councils of district observed black day after a year of implementation of "Local Body Act" in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Local member's complaint about bureaucracy for placing many hurdles in their way which was adversely effecting great system of Local Governance placed by Chairman PTI Imran Khan in Province. They regretted unavailability of funds and told press that people who voted for them were demanding works and laugh on us for not fulfilling promises.

They demanded Chief Minister to fulfill his promises done in Local Body Convention. They threaten Provincial Government if there funds were not released they will take their protest to Peshawar Secretariat. Protesting rallying was lead by President Malik Fazli Iqbal, General Secretary Imran Khan, Sahli Khan and others members of Haripur District. Like other Districts Haripur Village Council and Neighborhood members also complaint about the unavailability of funds and tied their shoulders with black bandage as a protest.

All the protest first reached to Ayub Park and then moved towards Local Government Office where protest demonstration was held later on protestor reach to press club where they raised slogans against government. Despite one year of Local Government has passed but Power has not been devolved to local Representatives and funds has not been released the way it was promised. They complaint due to unavailability of funds their areas are deprived from developmental works. They further said that notice should be taken by Provincial Government against that official who does not want this system to prosper as they were not corporation with us and always putting hurdles for us.
