Eleanor Chase.

CLINTON - Eleanor M. (Driscoll) Janda Chase, 79, formerly of Clinton, died Thursday, May 22, in Treasure Coast Hospice in Ft. Pierce, Fla., after being stricken ill.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 25 years, William T. Chase, who died in 2001, and her son, Andrew Janda, who died in 1987.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen E. Janda of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; four sons, Kenneth M. Janda and his wife, Elaine, of Lancaster, Robert J. Janda and his wife, Judy, of Sterling, David J. Janda and his wife, Rita, of Saugus and Allen J. Janda of Bolton. She leaves former husband Kenneth L. Janda, 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother, Rev. Daniel M. Driscoll, and two sisters, Anne Welch and Madeline Marsh.

Mrs. Chase was born in Clinton to the late Daniel M. and Mary (Nugent) Driscoll, attended local schools and was a graduate of the Clinton High School Class of 1945. She obtained a degree from the New England Medical Center and was employed there for many years as a lab technician. She was a former member of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Bolton, and held membership with the Clinton Turn Verein Women's Auxiliary and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards and golfing, and took great pleasure in trips to the casino.

A graveside service is to be held at a later date to be announced. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton.
