Elderly persons blessing for any family: Firdous Ashiq.

SIALKOT, November 01, 2010 (Balochistan Times): Population Welfare Minister Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan Monday said elderly persons were blessings for any family and they should be properly cared and treated with affection. The Minister Population Welfare was speaking during a ceremony after laying the foundation stone of Alflah Old Home here at Muradpur area of Sialkot on Monday. Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that numbers of families in our society consider elderly persons of the family as burden and they often mistreat them and regard them as functionless organ. Due to ill-treat old persons have to suffer and maltreatment and ignoring them often leads to heinous act such as committing suicide. The Population Welfare Minister said that in such circumstances welfare projects like old homes serve as last hope for those family rejected elderly people. Giving details of the Alflah Old Homes, Dr Firdous Ashiq said that Rs 30 million would to be spent to complete the project within one year time. She said that all facilities we enjoy at home would be provided in Alflah Old Home.
