El Dorado Board OKs $10 million for downtown.

EL DORADO --Nearly $10 million in economic development funding has been approved for a planned arts and entertainment district in downtown El Dorado.

The El Dorado Works Board, which was formerly known as the El Dorado Economic Development Board, approved $9.47 million on Tuesday for El Dorado Festivals & Events Inc. The organization is planning an $80 million entertainment district that will include performance venues, a restaurant, an art gallery, an amphitheater and a children's play area.

According to the El Dorado News-Times, $52 million has been raised for the project. The money approved Tuesday comes from a development tax approved by voters.
