Eilean Ban ruled out of Guineas with leg injury.

Byline: By David Milnes

EILEAN BAN, a general 33-1 chance for the Stan James 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket on May 7, has sustained a leg injury and will be out until the summer, her trainer Ed Dunlop said yesterday.

The daughter of Silver Hawk is also set to miss the Vodafone Oaks, for which she was quoted at 33-1 by Paddy Power.

Eilean Ban was last seen when finishing sixth, beaten only five lengths, behind Guineas favourite Rumplestiltskin in the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac at Longchamp last October.

Before that, she had put up a game performance to short-head subsequent Godolphin purchase Royal Proposal in a conditions contest at Newmarket in September.

Cheveley Park Stakes runner-up Wake Up Maggie, trained by Chris Wall, is reported to have "wintered very well" and is on target to line up in the 1,000 Guineas.

The winner of two of her four starts in 2005, including the valuable Tattersalls (Ireland) Sale Stakes at The Curragh, Wake Up Maggie finished last season with a cracking effort at Newmarket, going down by a neck to Donna Blini.

The daughter of Xaar is a 25-1 chance with the sponsors for the Classic.

Wall said yesterday: "Wake Up Maggie has wintered very well and, although she is not the biggest of fillies, she has strengthened up a lot, and, up to now, everything has gone to plan.

"The idea is to go for the Guineas and it's just a question of whether we give her a run beforehand."
