Eight charged in home fracas; People in dwelling allegedly attacked.

Byline: Linda Bock

UXBRIDGE - Police charged eight people this week in connection with a fight at a Hecla Street home.

Police Officers Greg Bach, Josiah Morrissette and Kevin Sullivan were called the evening of Aug. 15 to the house for a report of a fight in progress. When police arrived, the alleged attackers had already fled.

Police said the charges stem from the group forcing their way into the house and allegedly assaulting some of the people in the house. Officer Bach was able to determine the identities of the suspects through a series of interviews with the alleged victims. The crime is not believed to be a random act, because the victims and those charged knew one another, according to police.

The following were charged:

Christopher Prairie, 20, of 11 Elizabeth St., with home invasion; assault and battery by means of dangerous weapon (shod foot, floor and table); assault and battery; intimidation; and malicious injury to real and personal property.
