Eight Palestinian Detainees Recount Stories of Maltreatment in Israeli Jails.
RAMALLAH, November 24, 2015 (WAFA) Eight Palestinian prisoners who were recently detained by Israeli authorities have reportedly been subjected to various forms of maltreatment, including physical abuse and strip searches, according to the Palestinian Prisoners Club (PPC).
Jacqueline Fararjeh, an attorney with PPC, said prisoner Yousef Erekat, 20, who was detained by the Israeli army last month, was brutally assaulted by around 20 Israeli soldiers, after he was summoned for interrogation at Maale Adomim police station. He was also subjected to a strip search.
Meanwhile, 44-year-old Ismail Bader, who was recently detained by Israeli forces, told PPC attorney that soldiers mercilessly struck him on the head with the butts of their rifles, as well as shouted profanities at him. He was then left handcuffed in the chilly night weather for about five hours.
Another prisoner, 24-year-old Nael al-Qadi, said Israeli soldiers attacked him with their rifles on the head, and left him out in the cold for two hours while handcuffed.
Five other prisoners, Nael Eid, 24, Awni Shousheh, 27, Ahmad Qazzaz, 18, Abdullah Ekhlail, 26, and Jihad Thawabteh, 19, also reported to have faced similar forms of maltreatment and physical abuse.
On November 18 , PPC attorney Heba Masalha also revealed horrific stories of maltreatment and merciless physical abuse against two Palestinian detainees who were recently detained by Israeli authorities in the West Bank, and brutally maltreated by Israeli soldiers.
