Egypt : Suez Canal revenues fell in 2015.

In spite of witnessing a growth in traffic, Egypt's Suez Canal saw its revenues fall in 2015, recording $5.17 billion versus $5.46 billion in the previous year.

According to an official statement from the Waterway Authority, the canal's recorded revenues last year equaled 3.7 billion units of Special Drawing Rights (SDR is the forex reserve asset defined and maintained by the International Monetary Fund).

In 2015, the canal, which connects the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, saw the passage of 17,483 ships as against 17,148 in the previous year.
