Egypt : For $7.42 biilion trio of power projects, Egypt to issue tender.

Egypt is all set to issue tenders for three major new power stations that is anticipated to cost up to $7.4bn (EGP: 50bn) and be capable of producing over 5,500MW of electricity.

As per the report, for the city of Dayrout, 2,250MW plant is being contrived, whereas while a 1,950MW plant is planned for Beni Suef and a 1,300MW steam-generated plant is proposed for Qena.

Minister of energy and electricity Ahmed Imam stated that government guarantees had been gained for purchasing power from the projects in advance of a new Electricity Law.

For 2007-12, Report also stated that, projects were consisted within the seventh five-year plan and were in keeping with plans to intriduce more private sector investment into the country.
