Egypt : Dr. Abdel Aati attends a workshop held by her.

Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Witnesses the second day of the workshop to evaluate the work of the participants from the governorates of Upper Egypt in the 2019 farmers' competition "Keep it together".

Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Dr. Mohamed Abdel Aati, today witnessed the second day of the workshop on evaluating the experiences of the participating farmers from the governorates of Upper Egypt in the second national competition for water conservation " Of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, in the 6th of October, in the framework of cooperation between the European Union and the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.

The workshop was attended by representatives of the planning and management sector of the Water Guidance Center in addition to the farmers participating in the competition and members of the evaluation committee, which includes representatives of the Ministries of Water Resources, Irrigation and Agriculture.

The minister reviewed the experiences of the farmers and promised them to honor the successful experiences and disseminate them in the various media to spread the benefit of good practices in agriculture.

Dr. Abdul Ati stressed the need to promote and disseminate modern irrigation experiments in the area of ??agricultural lands adjacent to these experiments so that the largest number of farmers can identify the benefits of these experiments and then circulate them to rationalize water consumption through the water user associations, especially after the success of the winners of last year's competition. Publish their experiences in their governorates.

The Minister stressed the importance of rationalizing water consumption in light of the challenges faced by the state from water scarcity. He called for the necessity of rationalizing water consumption in all sectors, which is one of the main axes of the national plan for water resources and the ministry strategy.

It is worth mentioning that the competition is organized under the auspices of the planning sector in the Ministry and aims to promote awareness of water scarcity and encourage good practices in the use of modern irrigation methods to rationalize water consumption.

It should be noted that farmers were presented with their experiences and answered questions, comments and advice of the Evaluation Committee. The experiments included the use of both drip irrigation and spray irrigation in the cultivation of various types of fruits and vegetables, as well as the establishment of irrigators and laser leveling self-effort.

Members of the Evaluation Committee expressed their satisfaction with the active participation of the farmers in the competition since it was announced, with 83 farmers participating in the first phase of 60 farms.
