He was born on February 5, 1920 in New Britain, CT the son of Beatrice and Charles Crandall. Edwin graduated from University of Hartford with a degree in Chemistry.
He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II as a Pharmacist Mate 1st class. For 25 years, he worked at Landers Ferry & Clark as a plating shop foreman. He then joined Enthone, Inc., retiring in 1984 as the General Manager, Eastern Division of Enthone, Inc. He was an active member of the American Electroplaters Society for his entire career and served in many leadership positions.
Upon retirement, Ed was an avid golfer and also enjoyed fishing at his summer home. He loved to play the piano and was self-taught. True to his salesmen's personality, Ed made friends wherever he went.
Edwin was a long time resident of Plantsville, CT and then moved to his lake home in Holland, MA. He spent the final years of his life at the Osher Inn in Portland, ME.
Arlyne, his wife of 52 years, predeceased Edwin. Daughters, Margaret Crandall of Portland, ME, and Pamela Crandall and her husband, Michael of Brooklyn, NY, and three grandchildren Michael, Lindsay, and Kathryn survive him. He will be greatly missed by all and held in our hearts forever.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the family plot in Meriden, CT at a future date.
