Edward M. Gillespie.

DUXBURY - After a very brave battle against metastatic melanoma, Edward M. Gillespie of Duxbury passed away on April 20, 2012 surrounded by the family he loved. Ed was born April 15, 1944 in Southbridge, MA and grew up in Charlton MA. After studying at Clark University, Ed worked for Litton Industries in sales for approximately ten years and then spent over 25 years in computer forms sales working for Shade Allied and as a consultant to other paper forms companies. During his time with Shade, Ed earned the top sales award, "The Diamond Crown Award" three times and with Jody, his wife of 28 years, enjoyed trips to Hawaii and the Dominican Republic and a cruise to the Caribbean. Ed loved to travel and with Jody, they traveled around the United States and numerous times to Europe, Canada and the Caribbean Islands. He enjoyed gardening and nature and was often seen with Jody in the garden or on adventures to see a new bird. An avid golfer, Ed was a member of Marshfield Country Club for over 20 years and played as many golf courses as he could during his travels. He was a member of the Marshfield Country Club Beautification Committee for many years and his contributions are reflected throughout the golf course. He is survived by his wife, Jody Gillespie; his daughter Erin Wakefield, her husband Ben Wakefield, and three beloved grandchildren, Harrison, Elizabeth and Gavin of Bradford, MA; his sister, Mary Ellen Thibaudeau of Charlton, MA; his brothers, Thomas and his wife Cynthia of Holden, MA; Tony and his wife Mary Jane of Charlton, MA; William of Char-lton, MA and James Gillespie of Florida, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the American Cancer Society. A Memorial Service to celebrate Ed's life will be held at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, 410 Washington St., Duxbury, MA at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2012.
