To conduct the survey, over 200 field researchers of the Delhi-based market research agency Centre for Forecasting & Research Pvt. Ltd (C fore) quizzed 2,705 respondents including parents (with at least one child in preschool), teachers and principals, asking them to rate 175 preschools on ten parameters of education excellence.

Respondents were asked to rate preschools in their cities on ten parameters of excellence including teaching competence, teacher welfare and development, safety and hygiene, leadership, innovative teaching, value for money, parental involvement, individual attention to students, special needs education and infrastructure. The scores awarded to preschools under each parameter were totaled to rank preschools in each city inter se.

"The purpose and intent of the annual EducationWorld India Preschool Rankings 2013 is to stimulate the multiplication and upgradation of nascent ECCE institutions countrywide. This is an essential precondition of endowing the vast majority of India's neglected and short-changed children with a foundation for life-long learning," says Dilip Thakore, editor of EducationWorld.

The Top 10 preschools of all ten cities will be felicitated at the forthcoming 4th Early Childhood Education Global Conference 2014 scheduled for January 25, 2014 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Bangalore.

Delhi- In Delhi, 225 parents of preschool-going children and 61 principals and teachers have ranked The Magic Years Montessori House of Children (TMY), Vasant Vihar and Step by Step, Panchsheel, as Delhi's #1 and #2 preschool in the EducationWorld India Preschool Rankings 2013 for the fourth time consecutively, followed by Little Pearls Play School, Vasant Vihar, Kangaroo Kids, GKI, and Shishuvan, Vasant Kunj who constitute the Top 5. Of the Top 10, the preschool which has risen most in the estimation of ECCE monitors in Delhi is Little Pearls Play School, Vasant Vihar (LPPS) ranked #3 in the EW Preschools Rankings 2013.

Mumbai- In Mumbai, a sample respondents' base of 230 preschool parents and 73 teachers rated and ranked Podar Jumbo Kids, Santacruz (W) (PJKSW, estb. 2000), Mumbai's premier pre-primary this year. But even though young parents of the struggling garden city appreciate vintage pre-primaries such as HSM and First Steps, Cunningham Road, they are also appreciative of new genre new millennium ECCE habitats such as the Indus Early LearningCentre, Whitefield (IELC, estb. 2011) the feeder pre-primary of the top-ranked Indus International School, Whitefield; the upscale Neev, Indiranagar (estb. 2005) and Magical Years, Kodigehalli (estb. 2010) which are congregated at the Top 5 table of Bangalore preschools in 2013.
