Dear Colleagues,

This is a new year and a new issue for TURK-JEM. Our Journal links, shares knowledge and experience within the field of endocrinology and metabolism. In a decade of drastic changes for all fields of medicine; endocrinology and metabolism related disorders are no exception. We believe that the only way to network positive developments in the area can be achieved only by improving communication among researchers. TURK-JEM like all scientific journals of the field; has a vast responsibility where professionally and academically challenging appear in its doorsteps for publishing. Such publications require full hands on dedication and passion from the editors where self-sacrifice is a must. On behalf of the TURK-JEM editorial board we would like to thank once more for their altruism and passion for science. This professionalism and the derived interest for the content and viewpoint of TURK-JEM nationally and internationally is the main power force behind publishing. The spectrum of age composition among contributors reflects young scientists with up-to-date research techniques, as well as luminary scholars with years of rigorous research experience. The substantiality of contributions reflected is a mix of originative and innovative scientists who has devoted their life in the field of endocrinology and metabolic diseases.

In this issue we will cover topic like, Investigation of zinc concentrations in saliva of patients with thyroid diseases, role of vitamin D in immune system Cancer and hypercalcemia; a review of the diagnosis and treatment based on an unusual case, Papillary thyroid carcinoma with primary hyperparathyroidism; two cases with short review, Addison's Disease patient presenting as a Cushing's Syndrome, Hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state (HHS) in newly diagnosed child with type 1 diabetes mellitus.

With the year coming to 2013 and innovations within our field growing evermore as years are passing; ask endocrinology and metabolic diseases researchers to be part of TURK-JEM family by contributing, commenting on ongoing researches and as a reader. I wish the best of 2013 to you our reader and to everyone involved taking part in such a contributing publication.
