This volume will be numbered 70/71 (2017/2018) in order to reconcile the cover date and calendar date within the next year. Mississippi Quarterly has been on a regular publication schedule since 2012, but overcoming the lag that developed years ago due to a variety of circumstances has remained an elusive goal. After the managing editor and I consulted with the journal's publisher (the Mississippi State University College of Arts & Sciences), cataloging librarians, and representatives of online databases, we decided that publishing a two-year volume as a one-time fix was the best option for catching up with the least amount of inconvenience.
