Edith's end of perm disco.

Byline: By NATASHA WEALE

RADIO star Edith Bowman's hair-raising past has come back to haunt her as she heads back to her old school.

The top Radio One DJ is broadcasting her show live from Anstruther's Waid Academy in the Fife town on Thursday.

But Edith, 30, won't thank her proud mum Eleanor for sneaking this picture of a pretty permed 16-year-old to the Sunday Mail.

Despite admitting to a few nerves, the Scots DJ says she can't wait to go back to school.

She said: "I'm really looking forward to doing the show from Waid Academy.

"It'll be strange being back there, but it's going to be a good day.

"We're going to have some real fun."

As part of Radio 1's DJs Go Home, returning to 800pupil Waid proved a natural choice for Edith, who will arrive in Fife with co-host Colin Murray. The show willbe headlined by another Fife girl, singer-songwriter KT Tunstall, who was brought up in St Andrews.

The Go Home series will see other DJs, including breakshow host Chris Moyles and Jo Whiley, go back to their home towns for special shows
