Ed Mumm Named a Top 25 Newsmaker of 2011 by Engineering News-Record.
Mumm will accept his award on April 12 when more than 1,000 construction industry leaders gather at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City to celebrate the Award of Excellence winner and ENR's Top 25 Newsmakers of 2011.
Mumm's Dig This has been profiled twice by ENR; first in August 2008, when the company debuted it;s pilot program in Steamboat Springs, CO; and most recently in May 2011, when operations launched in Las Vegas, NV.
"This is quite an honor for Dig This especially given the achievements of the other top newsmakers,” said Ed Mumm, Dig This founder and CEO. “Dig This has a great following but more importantly, we've brought a positive awareness to the construction trade, and our customers walk away with a first-hand appreciation for the work accomplished by the men and woman who engineer and operate heavy equipment for a living.”
Dig This opened May 2011 at 3012 S. Rancho Drive, bringing the latest in recreational and corporate entertainment to the Las Vegas market allowing non-construction industry folks the once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience the adrenaline rush of playing with massive, full-size hydraulic excavators and bulldozers. Dig This is currently ranked the #1 attraction in Las Vegas on TripAdvisor.
Dig This is open 8:00 am - 5:00 pm daily, providing Big Dig and Mega Dig activities. All sessions start with an equipment and safety orientation, before participants get behind the controls in climate-controlled, radio monitored cabs and maneuver equipment in individual work areas. Participants must be at least 14 years of age. Pricing begins at $249.00 for the Big Dig session.
Additionally, Dig This offers specialty packages and corporate programming including: Dig & Destroy, Executive Retreat and Development, Competitive Edge Team Building, and Incentive Trips. Private and special event bookings are also welcome.

About Dig This[R], LLC:
Dig This[R], America's first-and-only recreational heavy equipment playground was founded by New Zealander Ed Mumm in Steamboat Springs, Colorado in 2007. Dig This' inspiration came to Ed while he was operating heavy equipment to construct his home in Steamboat Springs. After having fun clearing trees and scrub oak, constructing a road, building a pond and digging foundations he realized the potential for a business opportunity and the concept for Dig This was formed. Ed pioneered the “super-sized sandbox” concept providing the opportunity for the general public to command the controls of heavy equipment in a safe, fun and supervised environment. In May 2011, Dig This launched in Las Vegas, Nevada, bringing the latest in recreational and corporate entertainment to the masses allowing non-industry folks the opportunity to experience the thrill and rush of playing with colossal hydraulic excavators and bulldozers. Structured courses, including corporate and custom programming guarantee 20 tons of fun. www.digthisvegas.com.
