Ecuador : Indra modernizes the international trade platform used by EP PETROECUADOR, Ecuador's state Oil & GAS Company.
Indra has been awarded a contract by the Ecuador state oil and gas operator, EP PETROECUADOR, the largest oil & gas firm in the country, to modernize the platform used to manage international sales transactions and optimize the associated logistical processes. The project strengthens Indra's position as a provider of solutions and services to the oil & gas industry supply chain in Latin America.
The contract includes deployment of the Allegro Development Corporation solution to support the EP PETROECUADOR International Trade Division, thus automating transactions and optimizing logistical processes, ranging from imports of refined products right through to oil exports. The platform will also settle all costs linked to processes and run preliminary billing.
The solution will support the more than 600 export and import transactions that the company processes annually and will improve the efficiency of EP PETROECUADOR in terms of managing its logistics chain and enhancing the traceability of all operations. Automation also means reducing the risks associated with transactions.
The International Trade Division at EP PETROECUADOR is responsible for exporting the country's oil output as well as products generated at domestic refineries. The division also manages the imports required to supply Ecuador's own economy.
According to 2014 figures from the CIA World Factbook, Ecuador is the sixth largest oil producer in Latin America after Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia and Argentina, and is ranked 29th in the world. EP PETROECUADOR has a network of 262 gas stations and three refineries located in the provinces of Esmeraldas, Santa Elena and SucumbE[degrees]os.
The project strengthens Indra's position as a developer and provider of technology solutions for the oil & gas industry in Latin America, covering the entire value chain: exploration and production, trading, supply chains, asset availability and efficiency, environmental monitoring and security. More than 1,000 Indra staff operate in the Latin American oil & gas sector, with a Center of Excellence in Bogota providing innovative and specialized solutions to upstream and data management businesses. The company's main clients include firms as prestigious as Petrobras, Ecopetrol, Pemex, YPF, PetroperE[bar] and Pacific Rubiales.
The contract is also strategically significant for Indra in Ecuador, representing its first partnership with one of the country's biggest companies. The consulting and technology multinational has been involved in major projects in the country, including modernization of the justice system for the Transitional Judiciary Council.
