Economic development council planned.

Timmins has been joining the discussions around the idea of forming a Northern Ontario Economic Development Council.

Clara Lauziere, economic development officer for the Timmins Economic Development Corporation (EDC), was recently involved in discussions that happened between the Thunder Bay and Sault Ste. Marie EDCs in Thunder Bay on Oct. 9.

Representatives of the Sudbury and North Bay EDCs were unable to attend due to weather delays interfering with regularly scheduled flights to the city.

"The way things are operating in Ontario is, we are partnering more and more as things arise. Since it's something we're doing anyway, the idea is to put something more formal into place," says Lauziere.

" ... More and more, we have to work together to lobby the government versus each area competing for the same projects."
