Eco-features prove popular.

A TOP energy-saving expert proved an educational attraction at the launch of an exclusive gated development of four individually designed family homes in Balsall Common, near Coventry.

Chief executive of the government and local authority-funded Warwickshire Energy Efficiency Advice Centre, David Jullien spent the day talking to potential buyers of the five-bedroom homes at Pine Grove in Kelsey Lane, about the development's innovative range of eco-friendly features, as well as handing out advice on ways to save energy.

Developed by award-winning Warwickshire housebuilder Linfoot Homes under its Country Homes brand, one of the houses has already been sold and the remaining three attracted a flow of visitors throughout the open day.

The detached houses, which range from 2,100 to 2,900 sq ft, incorporate innovative rainwater harvesting technology, which sees rainwater from the roof collected in a tank and used to provide water for the toilets, washing machine and outside tap.

Other green innovations include high-efficiency, gas-condensing boilers, sustainable storm water drainage systems, a recycling bin in the kitchen, high levels of insulation and a central heating system suitable for solar water heating (with solar panels available as an optional extra).

Linfoot Homes' development director Claire Linfoot McLean explained: "Never has energy efficiency been more topical - with soaring gas and electricity prices and an increased focus on the damage we're causing to the environment."

All the properties have five bedrooms, a drawing room, dining room, study, large kitchen/family room, two en-suites and a family bathroom. Two of the homes have dressing rooms to the two largest bedrooms.

The Pine Grove homes combine eco-friendliness with hitech features such as integrated sound systems, iPod docking station in the kitchens and optional multi-room home cinema, as well as high specification fittings and finishes.

The view home is open between 10am and 4pm every Friday to Monday. Prices for the three houses still available range from pounds 675,000 to pounds 845,000.
