Eck's targeting Bosman moves.

BLUES are talking to several players who will move as Bosman free transfers in the summer.

Michael Dunford confirmed that much groundwork for Alex McLeish's revamp of the squad was being done.

Rangers' Kris Boyd is one who has been made an offer and is considering Blues, among other clubs. He has not yet made up his mind.

But there are also targets in mainland Europe McLeish and Blues have been making contact with.

"We can talk to Bosmans cross-border," said the chief executive.

"And, yes, we are talking to a number who are cross-border players.

"Alex also has, as you would expect, with his scouting staff and management team, targets in this country as well.

"Will we get everyone that we want? Probably not.

"Every club in the country will be in the same situation, so we are not alone in that.

"But it's far easier to try and attract players to a club finishing in the top-half of the table than a club that has just escaped the threat of relegation.

"It's Alex's and his staff's job to bring in additional players who will add to the qualities of those we already have here.

"They've done extremely well this year, the squad that we have.

"But anybody who becomes complacent in this game goes backwards.

"So we need to improve, on and off the field, and just make Birmingham City stronger in every aspect."

Blues cannot talk to Bosmans in England until the season's end, but from those outside the country - crossborder - there is no restriction.

McLeish, meanwhile, said he might not be prepared to wait for an answer from Manchester City on Joe Hart's future.

"We don't have any hard or fast decisions made yet about Joe. The ball's still in Man City's court, as you would imagine it would be, being his parent club. Our hands are tied until City say something, either 'yes' or 'no'.

"I would imagine that they won't make a decision until after the World Cup.

"Am I prepared to wait? Maybe not. Sometimes you can't afford to wait. If there's another opportunity there then possibly we have got to look at it."
