Echos of the past 25 years ago...
POSTMAN Sam Rawlingson got a "red-letter day" send-off from four other first-class pals, above. All five had served 50 years each with the Liverpool Royal Mail. The famous five started as messengers and went on to deliver mail all over Liverpool.
JOHN McNALLY, of The Searchers, and comedian Eddie Colington are all kitted out for the jungle as they set off for Belize to entertain British troops, left. The helicopters will lift members of the Combined Services Entertainment show into the jungle where they will perform.

WEST Lancashire town crier Roy Harness, right, is testing his vocal cords to the absolute limit in a series of British championships. Roy competes against 30 of the loudest voices in the land in three rounds of the Daniel Thwaites Town Criers Championships.
