Eaton Vance Equity Research Fund Now Available for Investment; Stockpickers' Fund Employs Fundamental Research to Minimize Investment Risk.

BOSTON -- Eaton Vance Corp. announced today that Eaton Vance Equity Research Fund is now available for investment. Since its inception four years ago today, the Fund has been managed by Eaton Vance's equity analyst team as an investment vehicle for Eaton Vance and its employees. With its performance track record now well established, Eaton Vance has decided to offer the Fund broadly to the investing public.

The objective of Eaton Vance Equity Research Fund is to achieve long-term capital appreciation by investing in a diversified portfolio of equity securities. The Fund generally intends to maintain investments in all or substantially all of the market sectors represented in the Standard & Poor's 500 Composite Index. Standard and Poor's 500 Composite Index is an unmanaged index commonly used as a measure of U.S. stock market performance. Portfolio securities are selected by Eaton Vance's equity analysts, with each analyst responsible for Fund investments in his or her area of research coverage. Allocations among market sectors are determined by the analysts collectively, under the leadership of Walter A. Row, III, Eaton Vance's Director of Equity Research and the Fund's portfolio coordinator. Eaton Vance's 14 person equity analyst team has an average of 16 years investment experience.

"The Fund is designed to highlight the stockpicking skills of our equity analysts and to take advantage of their in-depth knowledge of the companies and industries they follow closely," commented Duncan W. Richardson, senior vice president and chief equity investment officer at Eaton Vance Corp. "In this market environment, effective stockpicking is crucial to equity investment success. The Fund's results to date demonstrate the stock selection capabilities of our equity research team."

Investment decisions for the Fund are based primarily on fundamental research analysis, which includes consideration of various company-specific and general business, economic and market factors that influence the future performance of companies and stocks. The Fund seeks to minimize risk through in-depth securities analysis, careful portfolio construction and broad diversification. The Fund expects that its relative performance will normally be influenced primarily by stock selection, rather than by differences in sector allocation.

Eaton Vance Corp. is a Boston-based investment management firm whose stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol EV. Eaton Vance and its affiliates managed $109.3 billion in assets on September 30, 2005, for more than 100 investment companies, as well as individual and institutional accounts, including those of corporations, hospitals, retirement plans, universities, foundations and trusts.
