Easy-to-spout bulk-bag unloader.

A new bulk-bag unloader from National Bulk Equipment Inc. (NBE), Holland, Mich., enables the operator to easily and properly spout the bulk bag while simultaneously enclosing the bag spout interface within the NBE E3 closed-cycle dust-recovery system.

The dust-recovery system prevents the release of dust into the work area by containing and recovering the dust and reintroducing it back into the discharge path. As material flow moves from the bulk bag through the bag spout interface, the suspension system of the E3 automatically reacts to the decreasing volume of material in the bag and lowers the bag spout interface to pull the bag into a taut, conical shape. This bag-shaping function ensures no residual material remains in the bulk bag and no dust is released during unspouting. This bulk bag discharger unloads semi-free-flowing, hygroscopic, contaminable powders at a rate of 6000 lb/hr.

The entire bulk-bag discharging system is built on an integrated chassis and all control functions are centralized on a single menu-driven interface to enable standardized and system-wide data reporting. NBE integrated construction and controls are said to reduce total cost of ownership relative to the common approach of bolt-together assemblages of diverse equipment and controls, while also improving process performance and the accuracy of production data shared throughout the enterprise.
