EastEnders wins honours.

EastEnders cleaned up at the National Television Awards last night as Shane Richie and Jessie Wallace were crowned most popular actor and actress.

Wallace, who plays feisty, loudmouth Kat Slater, beat soap rival Suranne Jones (Karen McDonald in Coronation Street) to the title, while Richie, who plays Alfie Moon, saw off competition from Corrie serial killer Brian Capron (Richard Hillman). Nigel Harman - aka Albert Square bad boy Dennis Rickman - won best newcomer, beating Coronation Street superbitch Kate Ford (Tracy Preston).

Ant and Dec were triple winners - scooping Most Popular Entertainment Presenters, Most Popular Reality Programme for I'm A Celebrity... and Most Popular Entertainment Programme for Saturday Night Takeaway.
