East City News: Magic of the movies at church; YARDLEY.

FILM fans are being invited to watch hits of the big screen at a Birmingham church.

Digbeth in the Field United Reformed Church, in Moat Lane, Yardley, is hosting a series of Sunday matinees as part of its Reel Issues film festival.

The free screenings will be followed by refreshments and an optional discussion.

This Sunday, animated Disney films Cars will be showing, followed on February 10 by Groundhog Day, starring Bill Murray.

The fairy tale Narnia is being screened on February 17. And on February 24, An Unfinished Life will be shown. All films begin at 4pm.

A church spokesman said: "There is a break in the middle of the film to stretch your legs, a free cup of tea is available at the end and afterwards we discuss the film."
