Early exit for Lisa on glory day for Gary; ROUND-UP.

? DARTS: Lisa Ashton suffered a first-round defeat on her PDC Pro Tour debut, while Gary Anderson won the first ranking title of the 2020 season in Barnsley.

Ashton was beaten 6-2 by Ireland's Brendan Dolan at the Players Championship.

Dolan's run did not stop there as he knocked out world No.1 Michael van Gerwen on his way to the semi-finals, where the 46-year-old was beaten by the day's surprise performer, Canada's Jeff Smith.

The 44-year-old opened with victory over world No.10 Dave Chisnall and also knocked out Premier League star Nathan Aspinall and reigning PDC world champion Peter Wright to reach the final.

But Anderson proved too strong, easing to an 8-4 win. The two-time world champion beat five of the world's top 15 - Simon Whitlock, Gerwyn Price, Rob Cross, Joe Cullen and Adrian Lewis - on his way to the title.

? TENNIS: Gael Monfils kept the French flag flying as he marched into the Open Sud de France final.

The top seed and world No.9 beat Serbian Filip Krajinovic 7-6 (4) 6-2 to move to within one victory of his third title in Montpellier.

Monfils will face Canada's Vasek Pospisil, who beat Belgian David Goffin 6-3 1-6 7-5.
