Eagle River Interactive Expands Internationally With Operations in Europe

AVON, Colo., Nov. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Eagle River Interactive (Nasdaq: ERIV) today announced that it has entered into an agreement to purchase the assets of Groupe SRC, a Paris-based company specializing in multimedia localization. SRC is the founder and lead company in the European Localisation Group (ELG), which has offices in Paris, London, Milan, Stuttgart, and Madrid. Eagle River Interactive had been working with SRC and ELG throughout 1996 on a strategic partnership basis. The agreement is an all-cash transaction and is expected to be completed within the next four weeks. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Terence M. Graunke, Chairman, President & Chief Executive Officer of Eagle River Interactive, cited current customer needs, along with growth opportunities from new business, as driving the expansion into Europe. "Our customers are Fortune 1000, multinational companies. We need to be able to offer them business solutions that truly capitalize on the worldwide opportunities offered by the Internet and other interactive medium. Moreover, we intend to leverage our local presence to originate new business in Europe."

SRC and its role in ELG provides Eagle River with "in-country," multimedia specialists throughout Europe. ELG has been providing in-country localization solutions for companies such as Microsoft, Philips, Nintendo, BMG, Softkey, Netscape, and Living Books. The five ELG offices will offer complete Eagle River Interactive business solutions to companies doing business in Europe, along with continuing their activities in localization.

"This acquisition will allow us to offer our domestic clients local European contacts that will interface with their European divisions to ensure that our interactive business solutions are 'localized' to have maximum impact on each selected country," continued Mr. Graunke. "This strategy combines global resources with local impact."

Eagle River Interactive is currently working with Disneyland Paris, for example, to develop a Web site that is localized in six languages -- French, U.K. English, German, Spanish, Italian, and Dutch. This Web site is scheduled for launch by April in conjunction with Disneyland Paris' fifth anniversary.

In addition to revenue opportunities gained from working with current customers in Europe, Eagle River Interactive expects to realize new business from the purchase of SRC and its involvement in the ELG alliance. Mr. Graunke explained, "ELG currently has an enviable client list, and we hope to work with many of ELG's current customers on additional interactive solutions. With our Paris office and relationship with ELG, we will also look to originate business in Europe, along with growing it out of our current U.S. relationships. The five ELG offices will position Eagle River Interactive as the brand combining the strategic, creative, and technology resources necessary to produce complete interactive solutions for companies doing business in Europe."
