Eades to take care of Gwalia property; People in business ONTHEMOVE.

HOUSING and care and support provider Grwp Gwalia has appointed James Eades as assistant director of property services and management.

Mr Eades, 54, will be responsible for all Gwalia's repair and maintenance including the delivery of associated in-house services, such as void work, estate caretakers and cleaning.

He will manage the contractual arrangements around responsive repairs and empty properties and ensure that Gwalia's substantial planned works programme is delivered effectively and within budget.

Mr Eades joins from Hertfordshire-based stock transfer organisation B3Living where he was responsible for developing long-term asset management investment plans for the housing stock.

His work assisted in securing a major refinancing arrangement based on a multi-million-pound bond issue, ensuring the association's long-term growth through the development of new dwellings.

Gwalia is one of the largest housing and care organisations in Wales, managing more than 10,200 units of accommodation and more than 2,300 units of care.

Most of their properties are in the area between Gwent and Pembrokeshire.

Gwalia employs nearly 1,400 members of staff and last year its income exceeded PS52m.

Mr Eades will be based at Gwalia's headquarters in Kingsway, Swansea, and will report to executive director of property development and management Stuart Davies.
