EXXON TO ACCEPT MAC CARDS

WILMINGTON, Del., June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- MONEY ACCESS SERVICE INC. (MAC) announced today that the MAC card is now accepted for payment of products and services at more than 6,000 Exxon (NYSE: XON) stations across the country, and this number will continue to grow.
There are about 10,000 branded Exxon stations nationwide.
"Our stations are built around the concepts of customer service and convenience," says Exxon's Pennsylvania Dealer Area Manager Herb Shatzen. "The MAC card payment option gives our customers added convenience, and the benefit of the cash discounts, wherever such discounts are offered. They'll also enjoy the convenience of paying at the pump with Express Pay at many Exxon stores."
In addition, 300 Exxon stations throughout Delaware, Pennsylvania and West Virginia will promote the roll-out with specials signs and a discount coupon offer. Beginning June 15, customers paying with their MAC cards will receive discount coupons for a variety of retailers, including Little Caesar's Pizza, K-Mart, AMC Movie Theaters, Pearle Vision Centers, The Dress Barn, Choice Hotels and Fotomat. The MAC promotion is also being advertised on the top radio stations serving metropolitan Philadelphia, Wilmington and Pittsburgh. The coupon offer ends July 31 (or while supplies last), and is void in New Jersey.
"The gasoline category has proven to be one of the most successful applications for payment with ATM cards," said MAC network President and Chief Executive Officer Michael L. Douglas. "We're very excited about our partnership with Exxon in this area, as we believe that the leadership positions enjoyed by both the MAC network and Exxon in their respective industries will produce significant long-term growth in consumer card usage."
The MAC system currently has 1,400 participating financial institutions and 28 million cardholders in 16 states (primarily in the Middle Atlantic and Midwest regions). The MAC network is the top electronic funds transfer network in total switch transactions, and a leading provider of point of sale services.
