EXPANDED BROOKLYN/QUEENS COVERAGE BEGINS MONDAY

 NEW YORK, June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- In keeping with his pledge to better serve New York readers through improved local coverage, DAILY NEWS Chairman and Co-Publisher Mortimer B. Zuckerman has announced plans to introduce expanded borough editions on Monday, June 14. Brooklyn and Queens residents will receive in-depth community coverage in the form of several new columns and features which will appear regularly.
 "Through this enhanced investment in local reporting," Mr. Zuckerman said, "the DAILY NEWS will be able to satisfy the special community interests readers have, both with hard news and service journalism."
 Ten new columns and features will be introduced -- The Borough Politic: Inside News on Public Officials; Borough Bites: Reviews on Affordable Dining; Parenting: Issues for Urban Parents & their Kids: Immigration: Helping New New Yorkers; Civil Service: News for Public Employees; Communities: In-depth Neighborhood Stories; Youth: News for Teens; Winners: Neighbors of Note; People: Profiles of People who Make a Difference; and Showtime: Arts and Entertainment News.
 The new features will strengthen the existing coverage that includes hard-hitting news stories, Denis Hamill's "In the Heart of New York" column covering the triumphs and tragedies faced by everyday people, Jared McAllister's "Caribbeat" column, and the Bulletin Board events calendar.
