WHAT IS IT: Sit ups help strengthen the muscles in your midsection and improve your physique. To perform sit-ups, lie on your back on the floor and bend your knees at a 90-degree angle. The challenge is to sit up without moving your legs at all. For a harder workout why not try lifting your legs off the floor and repeating the same movements as a standard sit up, or even straighten your legs into the air and reach for your toes to really feel the burn. BENEFITS: Strengthening the abs alone will not remove fat from the waistline, but when done properly and combined with cardiovascular exercise to help burn fat, sit ups help tone the muscles in your midsection, which can help protect your back as well as improve your physique.
