EXECUTIVE TELECARD, LTD. INTRODUCES WORLD DIRECT, THE ONLY GLOBAL DIRECT-DIAL PREPAID CALLING CARD

NANUET, N.Y., Dec. 1 ~PRNewswire~ -- Executive TeleCard, Ltd. ("TeleCard") (NASDAQ-NMS: EXTL) today introduced a global prepaid calling card that may be used to place direct-dial intra-intercountry calls within and from over 40 countries. World Direct calling cards will be marketed directly to travelers by PTTs (Postal, Telegraph and Telephone authorities), travel agents and issuers of travelers' checks through well-established channels of distribution. The cards will be issued in increments of 12, 24 and 36 minutes, and TeleCard's worldwide CAVIAR (Computer-Assisted Variable International Automatic Redialer) network will monitor each card's decreasing value. World Direct calling cards will save callers 50 percent as compared to the rates charged by AT&T's recently introduced TeleTicket prepaid calling card and those proposed by MCI and Sprint.
Prepaid calling cards are very popular with travelers to many foreign countries. In 1991 alone, travelers outside the United States dialed $4 billion in telephone transactions on prepaid calling cards. With very few exceptions, prepaid calling card usage is restricted to the country in which the card is issued. A card sold in France, for example, cannot be used in any other country. World Direct will be usable anywhere in TeleCard's 43 country direct-dial network.
"This is a major new product for the company as well as for the industry, and we expect it to revolutionize the market," said William W. Moore, TeleCard's president. TeleCard will begin filling the pipeline with product during the spring.
World Direct cards will be sold in bulk at a discount to marketers. Travelers can pay for the cards in a variety of currencies and select one of 15 CAVIAR audio prompt languages at the point of purchase. World Direct users will enjoy all of the features and benefits available to subscribers to TeleCard's stand-alone calling card, Executive TeleCard International.
World Direct, Direct-Dial Service Features and Benefits

Executive Telecard's System:
-- Allows callers to direct-dial from touch tone (with a tone dialer (cost US$8.95), calls may be made from rotary and dial-pulse phones as well) phones in over 40 countries to virtually any other country in the world. It also allows callers to direct-dial long-distance calls within any of these countries, and access to the service is via a toll-free telephone number. A majority of the world's largest telecommunications operations do not provide similar direct-dial service.
-- Allows callers to avoid the exorbitant surcharges that overseas hotels impose on international calls. Hotel surcharges often increase an international call by 300 percent-to-1000 percent. AT&T's TeleTicket charges rates that are up to 650 percent higher than those charged by Executive Telecard for non-United States intracountry~intracontinent calls.
-- Overcomes hotel blocking of toll-free access to its international calling system by also providing callers with an alternative "local" access number. A majority of the world's largest telecommunications operations do not provide a similar solution to hotel blocking.
-- Avoids language problems wherever users are calling from, because the system's audio response software automatically prompts callers in any of 15 languages pre-selected by a customer.
-- Allows easy use of foreign pay telephones because toll-free access eliminates the need to carry large quantities of foreign coins; eliminates the need to decipher foreign usage instructions; eliminates having to deal with a foreign operator who may not be fluent in the language selected by a card issuer.
 -- Offers customer service accessed via a toll-free number, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
