Roderick P. Thaler has joined Willis Faber Re in New York as executive vice president and member of the executive management committee for North American reinsurance. He comes from John P. Woods Co. Inc., where he served six years as executive vice president and chief property and casualty broker. Before that, he spent 17 years at Guy Carpenter & Co. Willis Faber Re is the global reinsurance brokerage arm of Willis Corroon Group.
GAB Robins North America Inc. has announced the appointment of its new vice president. Dave Brown was appointed vice president of client services and business development for GAB Robins' risk management services business unit. Before this appointment, Brown was responsible for account management for GAB Robins. He has more than 20 years of experience.
CNA Surety Corp. has announced that David Paul has joined the company as vice president, international surety, of the Atlanta division. Before this position, he was managing director, international surety operations for the Corroon Construction Division.
Dennis Brucki has been named regional account executive for F.A. Richard & Associates Inc., in the Houston office. Before this position, he spent five years with American International Group, where he was an account manager. He has 11 years of experience within the insurance industry.
The Chase Insurance Group, a subsidiary of The Chase Manhattan Corp. in New York, has named Peter Aharonyan as president and chief executive officer. In this position, he will head all of the activities of Chase's domestic and international insurance channels, reinsurance, and underwriting. He was previously chief operating officer of Chase Insurance Group. He joined the Chase Manhattan Bank in 1985.
Bob Gruhl has joined Tillinghast-Towers Perrin as a consultant to insurance and reinsurance companies. He will work from the New York and Boston offices and will specialize in mergers and acquisitions, international operations, strategic and financial planning, and capital analysis and management. Before joining the company, Gruhl worked for Liberty Mutual Group for 27 years.
In other moves at the company, William N. Goff Jr. has joined Tillinghast-Towers' financial services practice. He comes to the company from management consultant Hay Group, where he was a senior consultant in the insurance sector.
Neal Pomroy and Michael Riley have been named directors for Mercer Management Consulting's insurance and enterprise risk management practice in New York. They will be responsible for client acquisition activities and the development and commercialization of intellectual capital. Riley joined the company in 1994 and heads the New York office. Pomroy joined Mercer in 1988.
