EWE honors editor Cattell.

Organizers of the Eastern Winery Exposition gave the event's first Life-time Achievement Award to Hudson Cattell, a journalist and author who has been documenting the progress of eastern North America's wine industry since 1976.

Cattell is co-editor of Wines & Vines'Wine East section with Linda Jones McKee, with whom he founded, published and edited Wine East magazine before it merged with Wines & Vines. Event organizers praised Cattell's contributions to eastern winemaking and grapegrowing during a celebratory dinner March 7.

Together, Cattell and McKee published 186 issues of Wine East, and Cattell co-authored five books, including "Wine East of the Rockies." He and McKee are now writing "The History of Pennsylvania Wines," which will be published late this spring, and are collaborating on a history of wine and grapes in the eastern United States since Prohibition.
