EVERGREEN MEDIA CORPORATION COMPLETES PURCHASE OF HOUSTON RADIO STATIONS

IRVING, Texas, June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Evergreen Media Corporation (NASDAQ:EVGM) announced today that it closed on Friday its purchase of KTRH-AM AND KLOL-FM, in Houston, from The Rusk Corporation.
"The purchase of KTRH-AM and KLOL-FM represents a significant milestone for Evergreen Media Corporation," commented Scott K. Ginsburg, chairman and chief executive officer of Evergreen. "The Jones family-- John Jones and Jay Jones--have created two incredible radio stations, and Evergreen Media Corporation intends to continue their tradition of exemplary broadcasting," Mr. Ginsburg said.
Last May, Evergreen raised more than $60 million in an initial public offering to fund acquisitions, including these Houston radio stations. The purchase price for the two stations was $51 million cash. "We plan no significant changes. We have purchased great facilities, operated by terrific people," Mr. Ginsburg stated.
In connection with the completion of the transaction, Evergreen and the seller entered into an appropriate "unwind" agreement because the acquisition was completed prior to certain Federal Communications Commission consents becoming final.
KTRH-AM is located at l740 Khz on the AM dial. KLOL-FM is located at 101.1 Mhz on the FM dial.
Evergreen Media Corporation owns and operates: KKBT-FM (Los Angeles); WLUP-AM/FM (Chicago); KMEL-FM (San Francisco); WTOP-AM and WASH-FM (Washington, D.C.); WVCG-AM (Coral Gables/Miami); and, WAPE-FM and WFYV-FM (Jacksonville).
